WILLIAM AUGUSTINE BEACH, son of William A. Beach, Esq., of Troy, New
York, was born August 25, 1841.
|
He joined our Class Sophomore
year in the autumn of 1860, and was with us through that year. He
was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity, the Technian Literary
Society, and Greylock Baseball Club. I glean from our early Class
reports the following items: In 1865, Beach was studying law in
his father's office, Troy, New York; 1866, married and practicing
law in his native city; August 25, 1866, Beach was killed while on
a hunting expedition near Saratoga, New York, by the accidental
discharge of his gun, lodging its contents in his forehead. On the day of his death he had completed the twenty-fifth year of his
age. A Troy paper pays this tribute to our classmate: "His future was
a bright one, as he was a lawyer of more than ordinary ability for one of
his years." For some time previous to his death he was associated
with T. Banker, Esq., in the practice of the law. He left a wife and one
child. |
