Henry Gates
JOHN HENRY GATES, NORTH BRANFORD: Farmer.
Mr. Gates was born, and has always lived, in North Branford. The
date of his birth is recorded as April 29, 1831.

He was married January 3, 1858, to Miss Sara Louisa Todd, who, with two sons and one daughter, is still living. He was a tax collector in 1870, and in 1889 represented the town of North Branford in the state legislature. He attends the Congregational church of his place, and for twenty-six years has been the librarian of its Sunday-school. In politics Mr. Gates is a republican. He cast his first vote in 1856 for John C. Fremont, and has voted at every presidential election since, save one.
